Ethical Brands For All Your Teeth-Brushing Needs

When I say cruelty-free brands, most people immediately think about cosmetics and skincare. What we don’t think about is hygienic care brands. Unfortunately, many hygienic care companies test on animals as well, and a lot of these products also contain animal by-products. Examples are Colgate, Crest, Johnson&Johnson, and the list goes on.

The most popular animal by-product found in hygienic care products, particularly toothpaste, is glycerin, which can be derived from animal or vegetable fat. However, if it does not explicitly say vegetable-derived or the product is not labeled vegan, it is safe to assume that it was derived from animal fat.

Fortunately, there are many ethical alternatives to the regular toothpastes. Today I am going to share with you a list of completely vegan and cruelty-free toothpaste and mouthwash brands below.

  1. Hello Products (Now owned by non-cruelty-free parent company Colgate)
  2. Dr. Bronners
  3. Jason Natural
  4. Nature’s Gate
  5. Desert Essence
  6. Dr. Sharp
  7. David’s Premium
  8. Himalaya Complete
  9. Kiss My Face
  10. Radius
  11. Eco-Dent
  12. Goby Electric Toothbrush (Use code FREETHEBUNNIESLIFE for a discount)
  13. Sandcloud Bamboo Toothbrushes (Use code STEPHANIE.KILBOURN640 for a discount)
  14. David’s Toothpaste

Many of the brands listed above have a variety of toothpaste types, such as fluoride free, kid safe, whitening, and with fluoride toothpaste, along with different flavors. You can find most of these brands at your local grocery store or drugstore.

I have personally been trying the Hello Products Fluoride Free Whitening Toothpaste in Natural Sweet Mint and I am loving it. It has a different texture than regular toothpaste but after a couple of days, it became the new normal and I didn’t even notice the difference anymore. My teeth feel like they are being cleaned just as well with the Hello toothpaste. Pair it with a bamboo toothbrush from Sand Cloud* to make brushing your teeth an ethical, plastic free and cruelty-free experience.

You mentioned that the Hello brand is owned by Colgate, a non-cruelty free company…..why are you using it?
