Welcome to Part 2 of my Cruelty-Free Summer Series! It’s summertime, and hopefully you are spending a lot of time outdoors this season. Heading to the beach? Playing sand volleyball? Whatever you might be doing outside, BB creams and CC creams are so handy in the summer. They are great for achieving a natural makeup look that’s lightweight, doesn’t melt off in the sun, and can also contain SPF for sun protection. Keep reading for a full list of 100% cruelty-free BB and CC creams that you can add to your beach bag this summer.
This list includes beauty brands that are only 100% cruelty-free and meet ALL of the following criteria:
- They do not test on animals during any part of production
- They do not order materials from any third party vendor who tests on animals
- They do not have third parties test their products on animals on their behalf
- They do not sell their products in countries that require animal testing (i.e. mainland China)
- They are not owned by a parent company who tests on animals
First, what’s the difference between BB cream and CC cream??
BB cream and CC cream offer solutions to different skincare needs. Depending on what you need, one may be more appealing than the other to you. Not sure what the difference is? Below I have it broken down:
BB cream: Moisturizing skincare/makeup hybrid that can act as a primer, concealer, light coverage foundation, and a soothing treatment all in one. Sometimes they offer SPF to also provide sun protection. Many people use these for a light coverage, “natural” makeup look or when they are out in the sun. BB stands for Beauty Balm.
CC cream: Lightweight skincare that evens out texture and uneven skin tone. Sometimes they offer SPF to also provide sun protection. Many people use these for more coverage than a BB cream but don’t want to use a heavy foundation. CC stands for color and correct.
Cruelty-Free BB Creams and CC Creams
- Pacifica Beauty – 100% Vegan
Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream ($16) – This BB cream contains Floral Stem Cells, Coconut Water, Hyaluronic Acid to serve as a tinted moisturizer that adds a light luminescence. This is for anyone who wants a sheer, natural look with a subtle glow.
Ultra CC Cream Radiant Foundation with SPF 17 ($18) – It comes in two shades: Warm/Light and Medium/Natural. The foundation adapts to the color of your skin shade to create a lightweight, medium coverage foundation. It contains SPF protection and Coconut, Kelp and Ginseng for added skincare benefits.
- E.L.F. – 100% Vegan
BB Cream with SPF 20 ($6) – This BB cream contains jojoba oil, cucumber, aloe and vitamin E to keep your skin hydrated and cooled throughout the day, while offering a weightless, clean coverage. It includes SPF 20 for sun protection as well.
Tinted Facial Moisturizer with SPF 20 ($3) – This is very similar to e.l.f.’s BB cream, containing the same skincare ingredients and SPF 20. However, this product gives you a light foundation coverage vs. a sheer coverage. This is a better option if you’re looking for a lightweight formula that acts more like a foundation.
- DermaE – 100% Vegan
Tinted Moisturizing BB Cream with SPF 30+ ($19.95) – DermaE launched their new BB creams in June 2019. I’ve already had a chance to try it and I was very surprised with how lightweight and comfortable it is. It’s formulated with mineral zinc oxide for SPF protection and infused with antioxidant-rich Bilberry, Vitamins C and E to help moisturize and nourish the skin. This is all while color-adjusting to your skin tone and providing a perfect complexion, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. I personally recommend this one.
- 100% Pure – 100% Vegan
100% Pure BB Cream ($42) – This is definitely a high end BB cream but it offers high end ingredients. Packed with skin soothing aloe, shea butter, and vitamin E, it gives your skin a luminescent finish. It’s fruit-pigmented and all natural.
CC Cream Daily Correct Broad Spectrum SPF 35 Sunscreen ($34) – Supergoop is great for sunscreen options! This CC cream is all mineral-based, and serves as a color-correcting cream that softens the look of fine lines, wrinkles and pores. It contains apple extract to brighten skin, seaweed extract to protect against free radicals and maintain healthy skin, and sodium hyaluronate to maintain hydration.
- Andalou Naturals – 100% Vegan
Perfecting BB Beauty Balm Natural Tint SPF 30 ($13.48) – Dry Skin – This cream is packed with fruit stem cell complex and antioxidants to give your skin a rejuvenated complexion and moisture. You can use this alone or under your normal foundation for an extra boost and sun protection.
1000 Roses® CC Color + Correct Sheer Nude SPF 30 ($13.98) – Sensitive Skin – This cream contains rose stem cells to provide soft, sheer, mineral coverage while adding hydration and sun protection.
Argan Stem Cell BB Benefit Balm Untinted SPF 30 ($14.21) – Oily/ Over-Active Skin – Argan stem stells act against pre-mature aging and mattifies excess oil to reduce shine and diminish appearance of pores. You can use this alone or under your normal foundation.
Vitamin C BB Beauty Balm Sheer Tint SPF 30 ($14.97) – Normal/Combo Skin – Containing fruit stem cell complex and vitamin C, this BB cream brightens your complexion while providing sun protection with a natural, sheer coverage. You can use this alone or under your normal foundation.
Ulta Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 ($14.00) – This product works to eliminate dullness, even complexion and leave the skin feeling hydrated. It contains light-capturing minerals that illuminate your skin, Vitamin C to brighten and even skin tone, and Vitamin E for nourishment. It’s oil and mineral oil free, and the SPF 30 provides sun protection.
Stem Cellular CC Cream ($39) – There is a long list of key benefits for using this CC cream, but overall it helps reduce fine lines, provide sun protection, even skin tone, smooth texture, moisturize, and improve skin elasticity. It’s formulated with an organic base of botanical juices to provide skin perfecting color and antioxidants for a radiant, glowing complexion. For supple, glowing skin, this is a great option.
Rōsilliance™ Organic BB+ Cream SPF 30 ($52) – Another clean beauty option, this BB cream offers solutions for fine lines and wrinkles, dullness, uneven texture and provides SPF 30 sun protection. It’s a super lightweight formula and vegan-friendly, a great option for flawless skin in the sun.

Radiance CC Cream SPF 30 ($19.99) – This CC cream is meant to blur all skin imperfections while providing sun protection. It protects and evens skin tone, giving you a flawless look. California Pure Naturals sent one to me for my consideration and I really liked how it covered blemishes and red spots. It’s also very lightweight and breathable.
