Pacifica’s *New* Alight Clean Foundation and Liquid Cover Concealer Review

On January 19, 2019, Pacifica launched a new non-toxic foundation and concealer. I was instantly intrigued, because clean beauty is so important for your skin. And why not start with base products that you literally put all over your entire face? I just had to try the Alight Clean Foundation ($16) and Liquid Cover Concealer ($13), and I am far beyond impressed. Keep reading for my full review.

Alight Clean Foundation

The Alight Clean Foundation comes in 30 shades and is fairly wide-ranged. Pacifica claims that it is a medium to build-able full coverage, but it is a solid full coverage to me. However, it definitely has a satin, dewy finish like Pacifica states in the description. Despite the formula being full coverage, it may in fact be the most lightweight foundation I have ever tried, and it’s ahhhmazing. I can’t feel it on my skin at all throughout the day. The formula is also oil-free, which is music to my oily-prone skin. It is the first foundation I have ever used where my skin is not greasy by the end of the day. The formula is truly flawless. It does take a little time for it to set, but I use a mattifying setting powder and it works great for setting the foundation and giving me a matte finish if I don’t want it to be dewy. For $16 and a clean beauty option, I absolutely love it!

Picking the right shade

Since the foundation isn’t available in stores near me, I had to guess my shade and order it online from Ulta. I was previously using the Wet N Wild PhotoFocus foundation in Buff Bisque (5/22/19 UPDATE: WET N WILD IS NO LONGER CRUELTY-FREE. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO), and to find my shade in the Alight Clean, I compared the formula swatches online. Ulta would at least let me return the item for a refund if it wasn’t the right shade so I didn’t have a problem taking a guess. It turned out to be a perfect match and I currently use the shade 32WL in the Alight Clean Foundation.

Liquid Cover Concealer

The liquid cover concealer has a similar formula as the Alight Clean Foundation. It is super lightweight and I’ve found that it blends and smooths very nicely. The concealer claims to have a demi-matte finish, and I have to agree. It is infused with coconut water, alpine rose, iris, seaweed and hyaluronic acid to help eliminate creases and provide hydration. This definitely gives a natural look as well. I love using this formula under my eyes. It doesn’t crease and covers my dark circles perfectly. The only downside I see to this concealer is that it only comes in 12 shades, and their lightest shade is not that fair. I really hope they release new shades soon, because the formula is a perfect clean beauty option and everyone deserves to try it.

Picking the right shade

Picking a concealer shade is a little bit trickier for me. According to Pacifica’s website, the matching concealer shade to the 32WL foundation is 18WL. I tried it, and they were right that it is a perfect match. So perfect that it is completely identical to the foundation shade. 18WL certainly worked for me, and if you prefer the concealer to match the foundation, then Pacifica’s website will help you find your perfect match. However, I prefer my concealer to be slightly lighter than my foundation, so I ended up returning the concealer to Ulta and ordered shade 20NF, which happens to be the lightest shade. I really love that shade and it’s perfect for my taste!

If you’ve been searching for a clean, cruelty-free, vegan, and oil-free foundation and concealer duo, Pacifica can hook you up! I was overall very pleased with both of the products and I’m so excited to have finally found an affordable, non-toxic foundation and concealer! I will be repurchasing these for a very long time.
