12 Cruelty-Free and Vegan Beach Bag Essentials

Happy July and welcome to the Cruelty-Free Summer Series Part 4: Beach Bag Essentials! July is always that month that makes me want to be a beach bum because the weather is usually the nicest and I always find myself at the beach. Whenever I go to the beach, I always bring a beach bag with some of my favorite cruelty-free items! Keep reading for the 12 cruelty-free and vegan essentials I always bring with me when I have a beach day!

12 Cruelty-free and vegan beach bag essentials

1. Coola Classic Face Organic Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 – White Tea

The number one essential I have in my beach bag is facial sunscreen. Protecting your face from harmful UV rays is very important to maintain healthy, youthful skin. I love Coola’s Classic Face sunscreen in White Tea. It smells amazing, has powerful sun protection, and isn’t greasy – which is wonderful for my oil-prone skin.

2. Sun Bum Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50

Body sunscreen is equally important as facial sunscreen. I love using Sun Bum’s Mineral Sunscreen. It’s zinc-based, reef-safe and non-greasy. I find that I only need to reapply this every two hours or so and it has great sun protection. I even survived the hot Costa Rican sun using this without a single sunburn!

3. Sun Bum Lip Balm with SPF – Coconut

I also feel the need to protect my lips from getting burnt so I always bring along the Sun Bum Lip Balm with SPF 30. No one loves burnt lips, and I love their coconut scent the best!

4. Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance

If you’re wondering what the best fragrance is for the beach, it’s definitely Brazilian Crush from Sol De Janeiro. Inspired by the Bum Bum Cream scent, it has notes of pistachio and salted caramel. I love throwing this body fragrance in my beach bag to smell like a beautiful beach goddess. You can spray this on your body or hair when you want to freshen up!

5. Conair Hair Brush

If your hair tangles easily like mine, you’ll want a hairbrush in your beach bag. It definitely comes in handy whenever my hair gets wet. I love being able to comb it out and make it look fresh again after a long beach day. Conair is an affordable, 100% cruelty-free brand that offers large and mini brushes. The mini is perfect for travel or throwing in my bag!

6. Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation

I love carrying a pressed foundation in my beach bag to freshen up my face after the beach, especially if I plan to go get some food with friends or shop around nearby. Cover FX is a great cruelty-free and vegan option, but e.l.f. cosmetics also has an affordable option if that better suits you.

7. Milani Powder Blush Compact

Another touch of makeup I like to include is blush, giving myself a pop of color for any after-beach activities. You can’t go wrong with Milani’s Powder Blushes! They’re affordable and so pretty!

8. Stainless Steel Water Bottle

A stainless steel water bottle is a necessity whenever you’re at the beach. You’ll be amazed at how well your drink stays cold even when it’s in the blaring sun. I use one from S’well that I found at Target. There are a ton of designs to choose from which I think makes it super fun!

9. Snacks

If you know me, you know I love food, and snacks. I always pack snacks in my beach bag to recharge my energy (because the sun is draining) and to make sure I don’t go hungry! The vegan snacks I put in my bag are a Nature Valley Peanut Butter Granola Bar, Wheat Thins, and Vegan Jerky.

10. Sunglasses

I can’t go to the beach without sunglasses. I wouldn’t survive! My favorite sunglasses are from FOREVER 21. They’re super comfortable, don’t fall down, and are great for relaxing!

11. A Bluetooth Speaker

The beach can get pretty quiet at times so having a little background noise is nice! On the flip side, if it’s noisy and crowded, a Bluetooth speaker also helps drown out some of the chaos, making for a more relaxed experience. I love the JBL Charge Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker. You can find it at Target!

12. A Book

I love reading outside, especially at the beach. Hearing the waves crashing against the shore is such a serene experience and it helps me get a lot of reading in. Plus, if I ever get a little bored but I don’t want to leave the beach yet, a book helps keep me occupied. I’ve been loving self-help books lately and so I recently picked up You are a Badass by Jen Sincero.
